Playoffs 2nd Round Game 3 Atlanta Hawks vs Washington Wizards at the Verizon Center, Washington, District of Columbia.
The Atlanta Hawks are already being run out of the building in the first half of Game 3 against the Washington Wizards, and they should consider themselves fortunate they didn't lose their starting point guard to boot. For the second night in a row, a Game 3 has been won on a banked-in buzzer beater, it was the Washington Wizards walking off with a win and a 2-1 series lead over the Atlanta Hawks thanks to Paul Pierce's last-second heroics.
The Hawks lost their homecourt advantage in the first game of the series, when Washington won an NBA record 4th straight road Game One. On Tuesday, Atlanta took advantage of John Wall’s absence and evened the series at one with a 106-90 victory at Philips Arena. DeMarre Carroll continued his stellar postseason play, scoring 22 points to lead the Hawks on the night. Atlanta was clutch from the free throw line down the stretch and converted 22 of 25 from the charity stripe for the game.
The Washington Wizards came into game two riding a five game postseason winning streak after their sweep of Toronto in round one. Unfortunately, in Game Two All-Star PG John Wall was not able to play due to a wrist injury. Ramon Sessions filled in admirably, scoring a team high 21 points on 8 for 14 from the floor. The problem for the Wizards is that Sessions is nowhere near the playmaking abilities of Wall. Sessions had four assists in Game Two compared to Wall’s game high 13 assists in Game One. Nene Hilario continued his poor play in the series, scoring just two points in 27 minutes of action.
