The Golden State Warriors ended their 40-year championship drought after beating the Cleveland Cavaliers in six games of the 2015 NBA finals. It is the first title for the Warriors, the league’s best team during the regular, since 1975 when the legendary Rick Barry led the squad. The Golden State Warriors stamped their class as the best team this season after breaking down LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, 105-97, in Game Six to complete their magical run to the NBA title at the Quicken Loans Arena in Ohio. The Warriors, who notched the NBA’s best record (67-15) during the regular season, simply outclassed the Cavaliers all game-long with their crisp passing, hot shooting from downtown and relentless defense to win their first title since 1975. And the Warriors achieved that behind reigning NBA MVP Steph Curry and rookie coach Steve Kerr who became only the first coach in league history since Pat Riley in 1982 to clinch a title in his first year at the helm. Curry and Andre Igoudala, a game-changer in the series with his defense on James and consistent offense, each scored 25 points in the title-clinching game. James carried the Cavaliers with a near triple-double of 32 points, 18 rebounds and nine assists but couldn’t bring his hometown Cleveland its first professional sports title in almost half a century.Golden State dictated much of the tempo in the first half, with Igoudala making the Cavaliers pay by knocking down open shots and Cleveland struggling and committing turnover after turnover.
